The Internet is a huge network of computers, often called servers or nodes, located around the world. These computers run 24x7, always connected to the global network to publish websites, distribute apps, and share documents.
To publish anything online, you must have space on one of those servers. This is a huge business frequently called web hosting or cloud. The moment you host your documents online, your privacy is compromised one way or another. This happens because to publish content online anonymously is next to impossible; at a minimum, your name, email, or phone number will be needed so that your data or content can be used by advertisers in exchange for the free online publishing of your document.
If you want to sell your content, the privacy challenge becomes a nightmare. You will be required to provide full identification and pay for the service using a credit card. In this latter case, your privacy is gone, and your activities will be tracked.

The Internet Computer also respects your privacy, does not track you, and we have used its high-tech features to give you privacy and security. The fee to host your content, or sell it inside this secure blockchain is very reasonable, just $14 per year*.
We charge this amount using the cryptocurrency of the Internet Computer blockchain: ICP, a token available at Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, and most cryptocurrency exchanges. Once you pay the fee, you can share online your content, or sell it for Bitcoin with full privacy and security.
To make sure you can charge customers Bitcoin for your valuable notes in seconds, and not an hour or several minutes, as it takes for a Bitcoin transaction, we use a technology called Chain Key BTC or ckBTC. ckBTC allows anyone to send and receive Bitcoin fast, and with very low fees. ckBTC is a better option than the Lightning Network because you do not need to run a node or have a custodial wallet. The Internet Computer blockchain backs your BTC 1 to 1 with real BTC in the Bitcoin Network. There are no bridges; only code and cryptography.
NOTE: If you publish large amounts of files, or have massive sales or visitors, there might be a need to place additional funds in your account, but this is unlikely for most people. If you ever need to do it, you will know this because because your ICP balance will be close to zero in the Cloud and Wallet tab of our software, and also the battery indicator on the top right of your notes will show empty.
